I have a new favorite Discworld book!
ok, I have a hard time getting into a lot of fantasy, and I think I've narrowed my dislike down to high fantasy. I just can't make myself be interested in court politics, human or fae. I prefer common soldiers to knights and cooks to chosen ones destined to be kings.
And, I can't emphasize this enough: I hate the fae. Just hate them and their courts and their rules. They are everything I hate about fantasy distilled onto immortal douchbags with rakish winks.
Possibly the only thing worse is a love triangle.
There's many a way to approach the mythology underpinning this one that wouldn't work at all for me. But practical, hardworking Tiffany is so far from a damsel that obviously this book would be full of win. And housework. And farming.
Though I suppose there could have been a bit more about cheese making.
Is there really only one more of these?
