Skary Childrin and the Carousel of Sorrow - Katy Towell So much to love here, I'm not even sure where to start. This is obviously a book written for children. Some parts are far too on the nose, and some more mature aspects are blatantly missing. But that's just fine as everything here works so wonderfully in this fun little horror story about friendship, individuality, bullying and a magic carousel that eats people.

I love the characters. I love the odd size of the pages. The unconventional layout. The terrifying illustration of what appears to be a melting kitten. It's so much fun!

As far as I can tell, this is a stand alone novel, but I would snatch up a sequel if there ever is one.
